Bank Core runs the systems at the heart of N26 - accounts, ledgers, and the core banking logic every other team builds on. We're revamping that core right now, so the engineers who join today shape decisions that reach across the entire company. The problems are real, the domain is deep, and the impact is direct.Our services are written almost exclusively in Kotlin on Spring Boot, deployed on Kubernetes, communicating over Kafka, backed by Postgres, and running on AWS.We lean heavily on agentic coding and expect you to do the same - but you stay in charge. You question what the tools produce, review every line, and own the result.We work with a high degree of autonomy, collaborate closely, and share what we learn.In this role, you will

Own features end to end on systems that move real money for millions of customers

Go deep on the banking domain - payments, ledgers, and the rules beneath them - and use that understanding to question and sharpen what we build

Drive your own priorities within a cross-functional team, and unblock yourself when you hit a wall

Raise problems early with a proposed solution, instead of working around them

Ship incremental improvements and share your findings - including at our Get Stuff Done Days ( GSDD )

What you need to be successful

Event-driven systems with Kafka

Payments, ledgers, or other banking/fintech domain experience

Relentlessly curious - you want to learn new domains like payments, ledgers, and banking from the ground up

Product-driven - you understand what you're building and push back when it doesn't add up

Self-starting - you unblock yourself

You surface issues early and bring solutions, never quietly route around them

You favor steady, incremental improvement

You share knowledge freely and learn from the people around you

You write well-tested code and treat security as part of the job, not an afterthought

You give and receive open, direct, timely feedback

Solid grasp of microservice architecture

Comfortable with relational databases, Postgres preferred

Experience operating in a modern cloud environment, ideally AWS and Kubernetes

Full professional proficiency in English
